ANN ARBOR CHARTER TOWNSHIP MASTER PLAN
History of the Master Plan: The Ann Arbor Charter Township Board of Trustees originally adopted a Master Plan in 2001. That Master Plan was replaced in 2005 and the 2005 Master Plan was amended in 2008 and 2012. On March 16, 2015, the Township Board approved the 2015 Master Plan as adopted by the Planning Commission and established March 16, 2015 as the date for adoption. In 2020, the Planning Commission began amending the Master Plan but suspended that work due to the pandemic. In June 2025, Ann Arbor Township prepared an update to the existing Master Plan. The proposed amendments included updates to the background studies with recent census data and other population and land use data plus, additions to the Master Plan relating to climate change and sustainable land use practices, groundwater resources and protection, broadband and internet access, accessory dwelling units, and several special study areas among other changes. The Master Plan was approved by resolution by the Planning Commission on November 3, 2025. The Board of Trustees officially received the Master Plan at the January 20, 2026 meeting.
Parks and Recreation Master Plan: The Ann Arbor Charter Township Board of Trustees adopted a Parks and Recreation Master Plan in 2015 and amended it in 2020.
